I already shared some of these to my personal Facebook page and they were quite a hit. 

Joel emailed me last week because he said he was in need of some head shots for some kind of gag gift for his mother.  He told me it was an inside joke.  Naturally, I was so curious that I called him almost immediately after I received the inquiry.

Joel explained to me that he had grown a beard. He said his mother hated it so much, that the last time he said he said he loved her, she replied, "I love you, too; from the neck down."  Since her birthday was coming up, he had been trying to come up with ideas for a gift that would incorporate photos of him with his beard, signed with "Love; from the neck up."  He had lots of good ideas, and if wants to, he can get a lot more mileage out of the photos we took that day.  (For now we decided to make them into a calendar.)

This is definitely outside of the realm of what I normally do for work, but heck; I have been shooting an awful lot of head shots lately--and I always appreciate a good sense of humor. This was FUN, as you can imagine.  My face hurt from laughing during the session; and from smiling the whole time I was editing.

When Joel showed up at my studio that day, I was expecting a mountain man who perhaps had small animals living in an unruly long beard.  Not so.  Joel is clearly a meticulous well-groomed man, his beard is perfectly coifed.  If his beard doesn't grow on his mom soon, I have a feeling she is going to get a big kick out of this calendar, anyway.
